This year's trip to Big Basin was fantastic as usual. Prior to our trip it had rained so we were treated to two encounters with banana slugs on the trail. As you can see the less observant among us had already trampled or kicked dirt on our first slug, pictured above. You would be amazed at the hit these two critters made. It so inspired us that we are now calling ourselves Banana Slugs. Which inspired me to purchase UCSC t-shirts for my kids that were the top readers in class.
